It's devastating news for Elton John fans that really spells out the end.
Elton John has confirmed that his final UK concert will take place at Glastonbury Festival 2023.
The Candle In The Wind singer-songwriter is the first act to be confirmed for next year's Glastonbury. John and his band will perform on the Pyramid Stage on Sunday, 25 June, closing the main stage with his second-ever appearance at a UK festival.
"I couldn't be more excited to be headlining the Pyramid stage. As the end of my Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour comes into view, there is no more fitting way to say goodbye to my British fans," John wrote in a statement. "They have been beyond brilliant and have supported me through all the highs and lows of my career … I can't wait to embrace the spirit of the greatest festival in the world."
Emily Eavis, Glastonbury co-organiser, continued: "We will be closing the festival and marking this huge moment in both of our histories with the mother of all send-offs. We are so very happy to finally bring the Rocket Man to Worthy Farm."
“I am absolutely thrilled to have had the chance to work with Britney Spears; she truly is an icon, one of the all-time great pop stars, and she sounds amazing on this record,” John said about his latest collaboration with Britney Spears, Hold Me Closer. "I love her dearly and am delighted with what we've created together.”
Spears added: “I was so honoured when the incredible Sir Elton John asked me to join him on one of his most iconic songs. We are so excited for the fans to hear it! Thank you, Elton, for having me! I am so grateful that I got the opportunity to work with you and your legendary mind.”

Elton John will return for his final "encore" shows in Australia in January 2023.
John teased his return during his Sydney farewell show in March 2020, stating: “I’m going back to New Zealand next year to play [the] two shows that I had to cancel. Maybe I’ll come back here for a couple more shows!”
During one of his Perth shows at the start of the tour, he said: “I’ve had the best time; I’ve been so lucky, so fortunate to have had the chance to play music for a living. It’s brought me so much happiness and so many wonderful things, and I’ve met so many wonderful people.
“From the bottom of my heart, I will never forget you guys…you’re in every part of my body, my soul, my heart – every fibre of my being. I’ve had enough applause to last me a million lifetimes.”
