We really get down with the sickness in Australia.
There are two new hard rock/metal albums on the ARIA Top 50 Albums for the week of 28 November 2022: Nickelback and Disturbed.
Nickelback have been massive in Australia since 2001 when the band released their third album, Silver Side Up, and the hugely successful single How You Remind Me. Since that record, the band have featured in the top five of the ARIA Albums Chart with their following seven (!) albums, including their most recent tenth album, Get Rollin'.
Get Rollin' debuted at #3, behind Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran and in front of Drake & 21 Savage and Disturbed. Have a look at the entire chart here.
Disturbed didn't have a radio hit like How You Remind Me in Australia in 2001. The nu-metal-turned-hard-rock band had a more challenging path topping the charts, but by 2008, Disturbed topped the ARIA Top 50 Albums Chart with their fourth album, Indestructible.
The following albums: Asylum, Immortalized (which featured the enormous cover of Simon & Garfunkel's The Sound Of Silence and hit #1), Evolution, and now their latest, Divisive, have all debuted in the ARIA Top 5. It's an impressive feat for a metal band, no matter how you feel about their career trajectory.
The band's eighth album, Divisive, released via Reprise Records, includes an AI-generated music video for the single Bad Man.

Tristan Holmes directed the thrilling animated video for Bad Man. It was created with Midjourney AI technology that included over 1,000 frames, which took over a month of image entering prompts and making structures link together.
Along with Bad Man, Disturbed already released the singles Hey You, Unstoppable, and the title track. Hey You, the album's first single, already sits at over 25 million plays on streaming platforms.
Hey You was released in July this year and sounds like 2000s-era Disturbed.
Vocalist David Draiman shared his thoughts on Hey You by suggesting the track is a call-to-arms for a world that is losing its way. "It's a wake-up call. We've become our own worst enemies. Civil discourse has become the exception instead of the norm. People have lost themselves in outrage addiction."
Did Draiman make good on his promise to fans back in 2020 that the next Disturbed album would be "blisteringly angry"?
Since their formation in 1996, Disturbed have sold 16 million albums globally. Their single Down With The Sickness from the year 2000 record The Sickness is arguably their most known work and is synonymous with turn-of-the-millennium metal.
The band is one of few acts to have five consecutive number-one debuts on the US Billboard Top 200. They sit alongside Metallica as the only hard rock acts to ever do so in the chart's history.
