Die! Die! Die! Announce Australian Tour

18 August 2014 | 8:08 pm | Staff Writer

The NZ rockers will be here for a string of shows next month

Kiwi-bred noise-punk icons Die! Die! Die! have announced their impending return to Australia in support of recently released fifth studio full-length S W I M, with a run of shows scheduled around the country’s south this September.

Getting under way at Ballarat’s Karova Lounge on Thursday, September 4, the S W I M tour will see the renowned, rambunctious trio of Andrew Wilson, Michael Logie and Michael Prain carry on through Melbourne, Hobart, Adelaide, Newcastle and Sydney before winding things down (or rather, ending things abruptly with no reduction of ferocity) at Wollongong’s RAD, on Saturday, September 13.

S W I M – apparently an internet acronym that stands for “someone who isn’t me” and has entries on Urban Dictionary dating back to 2008, but of which we were completely unaware until literally about three minutes ago – has something of a global pedigree, its eleven tracks having been produced by the band and Portishead/D12/Violent Femmes desk-man Chris Townend at both The Lab, in Auckland, and Lightship 95, in London.

It’s a growth and worldliness that shines through in Get Hit, the second single to come from the album, following the earlier Crystal, and the band just happen to have pretty freshly uploaded the new cut’s accompanying clip, so why not have a watch below and start getting in the mood for September?
