After months of speculation – and backing from a fellow Eurovision icon – Australia’s representative for the 2026 Song Contest has been announced.

Today, SBS and production partner Beyond Productions revealed that singer, songwriter and musician Delta Goodrem will represent Australia at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, held in Vienna, Austria, this May.

Heading to Vienna’s Wiener Stadthalle, Goodrem will perform her powerful, just-released new song Eclipse, combining her signature vocals, cinematic pop sound, and live presence on the world stage.

“I’m so honoured to represent Australia on one of the biggest and most iconic music stages in the world at Eurovision,” Goodrem said.

She continued, “As a singer-songwriter, music has been my lifelong passion. I’ve always loved the creativity, individuality, and joy Eurovision brings, connecting and uniting people across the globe through music, the universal language. I can’t wait to arrive in Vienna and make Australia proud.”

SBS Head of Entertainment Emily Griggs added, “After years of speculation, the moment has arrived. Everything has aligned for Delta to represent Australia at Eurovision, and there’s no better time than 2026 in the song contest’s 70th year, back where Australia’s participation began in 2015.

“To mark this milestone, we wanted to send one of Australia’s most iconic artists to the world’s most iconic stage. Her powerful voice is balanced by restraint and an openness that draws people in, creating performances that feel both intimate and expansive. Europe, get ready. Australia is lighting up the stage.”

Australia’s Creative Director for Vienna, Paul Clarke, said, “Delta Goodrem is a once-in-a-generation artist. Her elegant songwriting and unmatched vocal ability make her the perfect choice to represent Australia and eclipse the competition at the 70th anniversary of Eurovision in Vienna.

“Her song is a bold step towards the next stage of her worldwide career, and we are excited to bring her vision to life on the stage in May.”

Eclipse is out now via Delta’s own ATLED Records. Check out the video below.

Eurovision 2026 will take place from Tuesday, 12 May to Saturday, 16 May in Vienna, Austria—after Austria’s JJ won the competition last year. SBS will exclusively broadcast the Song Contest to Australian viewers in prime time from Wednesday, 13 May to Sunday, 17 May on SBS and SBS On Demand.

Delta Goodrem signed her first record deal at just 15. She burst onto Australia’s music scene with her 2003 debut album, Innocent Eyes, a record that became 23-times Platinum and one of the highest-selling albums in Australian music history.

The album produced five #1 singles and stayed at #1 for a record-breaking seven and a half months in Australia.

Goodrem’s career has been packed with milestones. She’s sold more than nine million albums worldwide, achieved five #1 albums and nine #1 singles, and earned twelve ARIA Awards. On a global level, she’s worked with and toured alongside artists including Celine Dion, Olivia Newton-John, Andrea Bocelli, Shania Twain, Backstreet Boys, Tony Bennett, and Ricky Martin

In 2022, Goodrem launched her own record label, ATLED Records, giving her full creative control over her music. Goodrem’s most recent album, Bridge Over Troubled Dreams, was released in 2021.
