"I was like, 'I wouldn't get Silverchair back together with a gun to my head for a million dollars'. Maybe that was too harsh in hindsight."
Aus musician Daniel Johns has declared in no uncertain terms that he and his fellow Silverchair bandmates will never play together again.
Speaking to The Project last night about his new podcast - Who Is Daniel Johns? - the singer/songwriter explained that the constant uncertainty was taking a negative toll on his wellbeing.
"I was like, 'This is really starting to effect my mental health'. Because I am saying 'that's it', and every time I try to tell the truth, someone told a lie," he told the program.
“I was firm that Silverchair was not getting back together and one of the other members kept saying ‘No, we’re just on a break and we’ll be back.’” While not revealing who of the other two members this was, Johns continued, "So I was like, 'I wouldn't get Silverchair back together with a gun to my head for a million dollars'. Maybe that was too harsh in hindsight."
He also added, "there's no worse feeling than constantly looking over your shoulder, and - you know - I've pretty much had that from the second [Silverchair] album."
While the Tomorrow singer teased that new tunes are on the way as a solo effort, he is not planning on bringing them to any in-person audiences.
