American singer-songwriter David Anthony Burke – best known under the moniker d4vd – has quietly dropped off this year’s Spilt Milk Festival amid a police investigation.

He no longer appears on the line-up after a “severely decomposed” dead body was found in an impounded Tesla registered to him in Los Angeles earlier this month.

As the investigation has progressed, the body was identified as that of a missing teenage girl, 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. Her death is being treated as a homicide.

Last week (September 17), the Los Angeles Police Department served a search warrant at d4vd’s Hollywood Hills home. The singer is reportedly cooperating with law enforcement for their investigation.

Rivas’ death has led to speculation about her potential connection to d4vd, who’s just 20 years old, The Independent reports.

Following the Los Angeles County medical examiner stating that Rivas had a tattoo on her right index finger that read, “Shhh…”, TMZ reported that d4vd has the same tattoo on his right index finger. Rivas’ mother also told TMZ that before her daughter went missing at age 13, she had a boyfriend named David.

In addition to sharing the same tattoo, a song credited to d4vd called Celeste was leaked on Soundcloud in 2023, according to The Sun.

At the time of publication, d4vd hasn’t released a statement amid the investigation. He’d been touring the US in promotion of his debut album, Withered, since August, but his tour dates, including an appearance at the Grammy Museum, have been cancelled.

D4vd was set to perform at this year’s Spilt Milk Festival and play some headline shows across the country this December. At the time of publication, his name has been quietly removed from the Spilt Milk line-up and tour dates removed from the Handsome Tours website.

Neither the festival organisers nor the tour promoters have issued statements about his name being pulled and tour dates being cancelled.
