Latest in 'artist services' imprint's global partnerships
'Artist services' imprint Create/Control has confirmed two new international label partnerships, with New York's Downtown and Britain's Mute.
Create/Control will release records on the Downtown and Mute rosters in the Australian and New Zealand markets, after striking similar international deals with Arts & Crafts, Vagrant and Innovative Leisure last year.
The first release under the agreements will be Liars' seventh record Mess, who are signed to Mute.
Create/Control's Managing Director Paul Piticco said, “Both Mute and Downtown are recognised worldwide for their remarkable rosters and incredible A&R. I feel pretty honoured they would choose Create/Control to be their home in [Australia and New Zealand]. We all have a shared vision to do things a new way and we're really excited for what's to come.”

Like their deals direct with artists, the labels will retain the copyrights for releases through Create/Control who will provide distribution and promotional services – however many the label opt-in for. The Create/Control model is increasingly popular because it requires no investment from the label, but it relies or regular and repeated successes to stay afloat.
As a result of the recent merger by publicity companies Secret Service Public Relations and Two Fish Out Of Water, Patrick Martin will be joining all Create/Control campaigns as of 18 March.
Downtown's roster includes Cold War Kids, Gnarls Barkley, Santigold, White Demin and Mos Def, while Mute is home to Josh T Pearson, Swans and acts its mate its name on like Depeche Mode and Moby.
