Nearly five months after her passing, Crazy P singer Danielle Moore’s cause of death has been revealed.
Moore died on 30 August 2024 at the age of 52. The band shared the sad news on social media a few days after she passed away and wrote that Moore died in “sudden and tragic circumstances.”
The family of Moore, the longtime singer of the British dance band, has revealed that she died by suicide.
“Whilst we will never fully understand why Danielle took her life, we know that how she died bears no relation to who she was in life,” her family wrote in a statement (per Billboard).
Adding that Moore “would never have wanted her outcome for anyone else,” her family shared that she “overcame two periods of significant mental ill health in the distant past.”
The statement continued, “With support and treatment, Danielle came through what had seemed, at those times, to be intolerable and wanted to keep on living.”

Highlighting the prevalence of neurological and psychiatric symptoms during perimenopause, something that Moore’s family say isn’t discussed outside of the scientific community, they wrote: “They say that to be forewarned is to be forearmed, so if any good can come from Danielle’s death, perhaps it will be increased awareness and understanding of the impact that the perimenopause can have on women’s mental health.
“We would like to thank everyone who came to see Danielle perform over the years and enabled her to do what she loved. She was as captivated by you as you were by her. We would also like to thank everyone for their words of kindness since Danielle’s death. The outpouring of love and support has been overwhelming.”
Crazy P was formed in the ‘90s by band members Chris Todd and Jim Baron under the name of Crazy Penis. By 2002, the group had expanded, adding bassist Tim Davies, percussionist Mav Kendricks, and Moore. By 2008, the band started using the name Crazy P. Moore previously said that Crazy P being the opening act for Faithless on their 2005/2006 tour changed everything for the band.
The band developed a strong fanbase in Australia, touring Down Under on numerous occasions. Crazy P released seven studio albums plus remix albums, with their most recent studio album, Age Of The Ego, released in 2019. Following the release of the album, Moore was quoted as saying, “It’s “probably the most proud I am of an album, lyrically speaking.”
