The soul sensation lines up two standalone gigs for her April visit

More Bluesfest More Bluesfest

British neo-soul luminary Corinne Bailey Rae has announced two headline dates to complement her impending debut Australian appearance at Byron Bay Bluesfest next year.

The acclaimed singer-songwriter and guitarist will step out in Sydney at the Metro Theatre before taking to the stage at Melbourne's 170 Russell a few days later.

Rae has racked up a decade of experience since first catching everyone's attention in 2006 with her self-titled debut album — which hit #1 in the UK (and #4 in the US), no less — and, in the time since, she's accured more than 5 million album sales, two Grammy Awards and worldwide hit songs such as Put Your Records On, Been To The Moon and Like A Star.

Rae cut her teeth as the frontwoman for indie band Helen before going on to make her breakthrough in 2004 by signing with Global Talent Publishing and featuring on an album by Mark Hill, a mentor of Craig David, before releasing her own first solo single — the aforementioned Like A Star — and album.

She released her second album, The Sea, four years later, taking a little longer — six years — between drinks to craft her lauded third album, The Heart Speaks In Whispers, which she ultimately released in May this year and steered to an impressive #3 peak on Billboard's R&B chart.

Now, she's all set to win over Aussie audiences not just at Bluesfest but her newly announced sideshow performances, for which tickets go on sale from 10am AEDT this Wednesday, 26 October, via Ticketek (Sydney) as well as Bluesfest Touring and 170 Russell (Melbourne).

The 28th Byron Bay Bluesfest will be held at Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm from 13-17 April 2017.
