Popular musician Conor Oberst is suing a woman who accused him of rape in the comments section of a blog, TMZ has reported today. He is reportedly seeking more than $1 million in damages and claiming that the woman is lying and damaging his reputation.

The accusation was made of the Bright Eyes and Desaparecidos frontman in December last year on the comments of a story on popular website XOJane. The woman is believed to have accused Oberst of raping her in 2003, when she was 16 years of age.

Desaparecidos were due to play the Soundwave Festival beginning this weekend, but were forced to cancel due to “an issue of a personal nature”.
