“They have risked their lives to protect the community - they are the definition of Australian heroes."
Thousands of Rural Fire Service (RFS) volunteers and their families will get free tickets to see Cold Chisel perform in Sydney next week.
The legendary rock outfit will perform the first-ever live music event at Bankwest Stadium in Parramatta alongside special guests Hoodoo Gurus, Birds Of Tokyo and Busby Marou on Friday 24 January, with the NSW Government to allocate 2,500 tickets to the RFS for the show.
Minister for Emergency Services David Elliott applauded the move, saying some of our RFS volunteers have been on the frontline fighting the blazes since August.
“They have risked their lives to protect the community - they are the definition of Australian heroes,” Elliott said.

“I’m thrilled to see the entertainment industry get behind our volunteers and give them an opportunity to have a good time. No one joins the RFS for praise or accolades, but I couldn’t think of a group of men and women more deserving.”
NSW Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons added, "We’re grateful to the NSW Government for offering our members tickets to the Cold Chisel concert, so they can take time out to enjoy a night off with these Aussie rock legends."
The Bankwest Stadium show comes in support of Cold Chisel's current Blood Moon tour. For more details, click on theGuide or scroll down.
