Sydney hard rockers C.O.F.F.I.N have continued their banner year, announcing the release of their sixth album, Out In Oslo.
Set for release on September 18th, Out In Oslo arrives just a matter of weeks after the band announced their signing to p(doom) Records (launched by King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard and home to the prolific Aussie band, plus GUM/Kenny Ambrose Smith, CAVS, and more) and shared their first single since 2023, Sleep In It.
Now, news of their sixth LP comes alongside the release of Think Bad, which features production from Amyl And The Sniffers’ Declan Mehrtens (and vocals co-produced by Frenzal Rhomb’s Jason Whalley), and sees the group channelling other iconic rockers such as ZZ Top or even local legends the Beasts Of Bourbon.
“Think Bad describes the use of negativity to fuel forward motion,” says drummer, singer, and director of the track’s video, Ben Portnoy. “It's about using hard thoughts as a compass, reminding yourself that not everything that feels good is good for you, while at the same time, understanding that the combined weight of cynicism and reckless behaviour can make the greatest losses.”
“The mood of the song is fairly heavy and anti-social, so I felt the clip should counter that with a bit of silliness and out-of-context cowboys felt perfect for achieving just that,” Portnoy adds of the accompanying video clip, which was filmed at Sydney’s Luna Park.

“We snuck cameras onto the rides in our pants, and got asked to pull our face covers down so as to not freak out the other thrill seekers. Plastic pistols seemed to be permitted throughout the park…
“The camera is great for providing permission to be playful, its presence immediately transforms its surroundings into theatre, and our level of expression follows suit,” he adds. “This clip shows us (the band) in its purest form. Friends out having fun together.”
Out In Oslo is the first new record from C.O.F.F.I.N since 2023's Australia Stops, which became their first to impact the Australian charts, and scored them an ARIA Award nomination for Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album.
Its arrival also follows on from the recent release of their documentary, 10,000 Miles From Oslo, which contains archival footage, interviews, unseen material, and more as it tracks the band’s rise from their 2005 formation through to their current era.
