FanFest set for Sydney in May

Having established itself as a success in Singapore last year, the YouTube FanFest happened again in Mumbai last month.

The event will now hit Sydney on May 31, following its return to Singapore on May 24 and 25.

Promoted as a "live show bringing together established and rising YouTube stars". It will feature both international and Australian YouTube talent.

YouTube and Branded Ltd have hooked up with Chugg Entertainment to bring the convention to Luna Park - with more dates to be added "around the region" soon.

The inaugural Australian YouTube fan event will include viral favourites Jenna Marbles, Ryan Higa, Tobuscus, Bethany Mota, My ChonnyIISuperwomanII and more.

In a statement released today to coincide with the Sydney FanFest announcement, promoter Michael Chugg said, "I have been promoting live shows for more than 50 years and I am constantly excited by new opportunities that are becoming a part of the touring landscape. YouTube FanFest is the perfect example of that.

"It's a completely unique concept and provides a live platform for talent that fans could previously only interact with online. I love the fact that we can bring these online superstars to life in front of their Australian fans, it's going to be a huge day."

The event will be a mix of music, comedy, fashion, education, dancing, science and even beauty tips - just like what you watch at work when the boss isn't looking... but without the buffering.

Tickets for YouTube FanFest go on sale at 9am Thursday 1 May.

Full line-up includes: Jenna Marbles; Ryan Higa; Vsauce; Tobuscus; Bethany Mota; Tyler Oakley; IISuperwomanII; Troye Sivan; Veritasium; My Chonny; Chloe Morello; Rob Nixon; Jay Jay.
