Chris de Burgh Announces Australian Leg Of ‘50LO’ Tour

Chris de Burgh fans rejoice as the 80s legend is set to return to Australia in May 2025.

Long-time singer-songwriter and mastermind behind the hit song Lady In Red, de Burgh will be celebrating 50 years of his career in 2025, and taking shows to Australia for the first time in 16 years. 

At the moment, de Burgh is busy hopping his way through Western Europe but plans to make the trek down under in May of 2025. 

The Australian leg will begin in Melbourne at Hammer Hall on the 1st of May before venturing up North to Brisbane and the Gold Coast over the first weekend of May. A show at Sydney’s esteemed Opera House will be going ahead the following week on Thursday, 8th May, with the tour then closing out in Perth’s Riverside Theatre on 11th May.

De Burgh first established himself as a professional musician in 1974, following the signing of his first contract with A&M Records. The signing would see him tag along as the support act for Supertramp’s Crime of the Century world tours across North America and Europe before dropping his debut album, Far Beyond These Castle Walls, in the same year. 

The British-Irish singer would bring his talents to Australia the years directly before and after his most commercially successful album, Flying Colours, released in 1988. De Burgh then toured Australia again in 1997 and 2006. 

"After my 50-year career, I'm thrilled to be returning to Australia after 16 years - some of my exciting tours and lasting memories are from being in Australia, and I can't wait to get there again." De Burgh said of the 2025 tour.
