It’s been a big year for the The Age Music Victoria Awards, and this year’s talent pool reflects a solid 12 months for Victorian music, with Chet Faker, Briggs, and Evelyn Morris among others taking out industry awards tonight at The Age Media House.
Briggs’ new record ShepLife took out best hip-hop album, Faker scored Best Electronic album and The Deans left with Best Indigenous Act.

Which leads us to the 11 publicly voted award categories that sees Dan Sultan, King Gizzard & The Lizard, and Teeth & Teeth score multiple nominations, Genre Award winners Chet Faker and Briggs also score nominations, Courtney Barnett, Missy Higgins and more up for Best Female Artist, and some of the state’s best venues, and festivals in the running.
Voting for the Public Awards opens Friday 17 October via theage.com.au, and the sold-out awards ceremony is set to go down at 170 Russell Street on Wednesday 19 November, with a special performance from Aussie rock legends Daddy Cool to accompanying their induction into The Age Music Victoria Hall Of Fame.
