Next month, Cyndi Lauper will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and she’ll enter the prestigious hall following a speech from one of today’s most popular artists.

Chappell Roan, a longtime fan of the Girls Just Want To Have Fun singer, announced her participation ahead of the big day via a video shared on social media.

“She has inspired me with her fashion and her hair, and of course, her makeup, her music,” Roan said. “I actually auditioned with ‘True Colours’ for America’s Got Talent when I was 13. I didn’t make it, but the song is still incredible. I’m so excited, thank you for having me.”

As Consequence of Sound notes, Lauper has also expressed admiration for the Good Luck, Babe! singer.

In her recent documentary, Let The Canary Sing, Lauper reacted to hearing Roan for the first time like so: “Such dusky, yearning keyboard pop. Wow, born in 1998, she’s even younger than my son! And that hair! That kind of reminds me of what I did on the blues record, Memphis Blues… Just incredible!”

Lauper will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside rock, hip-hop, and grunge icons such as The White Stripes, OutKast, Soundgarden, Joe Cocker, Salt-N-Pepa, Carole Kaye, Bad Company, Chubby Checker, and Warren Zevon.

This year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony will take place on Saturday, 8 November, at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.

Performers and presenters set to appear at the ceremony include Olivia Rodrigo, Elton John, Iggy Pop, Killer Mike, Doja Cat, Flea, Missy Elliott, twenty one pilots, Questlove, RAYE, Teddy Swims, and more.

In February 2026, Chappell Roan will head to Australia and New Zealand and present a 90-minute “gothic fairytale spectacle” as Laneway Festival’s headliner. She’ll be joined by acts including Wolf Alice, PinkPantheress, Wet Leg, Role Model, and many others.

Earlier this year, Cyndi Lauper embarked on her farewell tour of Australia. She kicked things off in Melbourne at the Rod Laver Arena on 2 April, which The Music’s Cyclone Wehner described as a celebration of “the power of imagination, empathy and collective memory,” a bittersweet nod to the artist’s longstanding music career.
