After torrential rain derailed this year’s Broken Hill Mundi Mundi Bash – holding free pop-up gigs for affected punters was pretty awesome, though – organisers have announced an epic line-up for its 2027 return.

Once again, the beloved regional event returns to the Mundi Mundi plains outside Silverton, NSW, from Thursday, 19 to Saturday, 21 August. As for who’s playing: punters can expect a bill of rock royalty and other Outback fun.

Jimmy Barnes headlines the 2027 edition of the festival. He’ll be joined by The Living End, The Cat Empire, Kate Ceberano, Ross Wilson, The Screaming Jets, Mental as Anything, Mark Seymour, Pseudo Echo, Casey Barnes, Dragon, Spy v Spy, GANGgajang, Sarah McLeod, Ella Hooper, and more.

Plus, the event will feature a set from tribute act The Rolling Stones Revue, starring Adalita, Phil Jamieson, Tex Perkins and Tim Rogers. Check out the full line-up below.

Speaking on his headlining performance, Barnes said, “The Mundi Mundi Bash is one of the greatest festivals on the planet. For a start, you get to see some of the best artists Australia has produced, which is always great, and secondly, the location for this festival is like no other place in the world. It is absolutely breathtaking.

“Driving out to the site takes you through some of the most stunning scenery ever. I, for one, can’t wait to get out there and get my band rocking. See you all there.”

Beyond the music, the Mundi Mundi Bash is a three-day, camping-based festival that welcomes fans of all ages and is dog-friendly. Punters also gather for world-record attempts to fundraise for Beyond Blue and the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS). The festival also hosts a Mad Max dress-up gathering that celebrates the location’s history with the Mad Max film franchise.

Tickets to the 2027 Mundi Mundi Bash will be available on Thursday, 22 October, at 10 am AEDT. Head to the festival website for more information.

“We’re definitely not the usual live music experience of an indoor venue or even a parkland setting in suburbia, at a winery or by the beach. And the Mundi Mundi Bash isn’t a rinse and repeat gig,” said Greg Donovan, event founder and Managing Director of the Outback Music Festival Group.

He continued, “We only run the event once a year because so much goes into creating an extraordinary experience in the middle of the Outback.

“There’s something very special and entirely unique about seeing artists like Jimmy Barnes on our Outback stage surrounded by beautiful red dirt plains as far as the eye can see. It’s a different energy, and the fun extends well beyond the on-stage experience.

“We’re proud that no one else in Australia is delivering festivals that even come close to the Bash experience. And that we’re also able to do so much good for our charity partners – having raised more than a million dollars already for the RFDS and hundreds of thousands of dollars for Beyond Blue.

“And with our sister festival, the Birdsville Big Red Bash, calling time after the 2027 event, the Mundi Mundi Bash will become our entire focus and the only event on the calendar to experience our special brand of outback entertainment.”
