Australian indie rockers British India have returned with a new song – their first in eight years – that’s stacked with purpose and energy. To celebrate their return, you’ll be able to catch them live this September and October.
The Gospel Of Luke marks the band’s first new single since the departure of founding member and original guitarist, Nic Wilson. It features the debut of new guitarist Jack Tosi, and finds the band with renewed inspiration—something frontman Declan Melia lost after Wilson’s departure.
The new single was recorded at Sing Sing Studios with longtime producer Glenn Goldsmith and Aaron Dobos. Melia said of the blistering new track: “All I want to do is play live rock n roll, it’s my lifeblood, which is why we kept playing gigs, but my urge to write songs just wasn’t there. Then one day, out of the blue, I picked up my guitar and ‘The Gospel Of Luke’ appeared.”
Thematically, The Gospel Of Luke asks listeners to consider the important things in life by expanding on their indie-rock confessional sound with a massive chorus that looks mortality in the face. You can check out the new single below.
British India will take The Gospel Of Luke on tour later this year, today announcing a 14-date run through September and October. The tour will see them visiting regional and metro areas, including the Gold Coast, Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast, Newcastle, Sydney, Frankston, Albion Park Rail, Canberra, Geelong, Melbourne, Adelaide, Karratha, Perth, and Bunbury. Check out the dates and venues below.
