If this doesn't become the new 'Slip, Slop, Slap', we will be very disappointed
Queenslanders know all too well the double-edged sword of a sunny day, but there's no questioning that the old Slip, Slop, Slap refrain is a little too well-worn these days — so Brisbane-based bitpop outfit and multimedia experimentalists 7bit Hero have teamed up with government-endorsed sun-care specialist Sun Mum to release fresh new (responsible) party cut Burn Your Bits.
Alternately uplifting, delightfully batty, and mildly terrifying ("Oh oh oh/ Let’s have a party with the/ Sun Sun Sun/ It’s gonna get us blazing/ Hot so hot/ So cover up, you might get/ Dead dead dead!" the infectious, synth-dappled chorus reminds us), the collaborative track features a pretty amazing bridge rap from Sun Mum herself, featuring such delightfully borderline-acceptable wordplay such as, "I’ve made sunscreen my project just like Rove and Carrie" and, "Five seconds of summer will burn way less with a hat".
It's probably best if you just watch the freshly uploaded clip, but do try to ignore the fact that nobody in the band is actually wearing a hat, despite Sun Mum's obvious obsession with the accessory. Nobody point that out to her. She'll be very disappointed.
