Just when you think Brisbane pop-powerhouse Cub Sport can’t smash any more goals, they go and nab themselves the inaugural ARIA Emerging Artist Scholarship presented by Virgin Australia.

Thanks to the scholarship, the group will be entitled to travel support from Virgin for both the domestic and international legs of their 2018 world tour.

"The costs associated with touring both domestically and internationally are significant and can be the limiting factor in many independent bands’ careers," keyboardist Sam Netterfield said.

"This travel support will play a direct and pivotal role in allowing us to continue pursuing our global vision by returning to international markets to play shows, connect with fans as well as expanding our creative and professional network."

The four-piece are proudly independent, self-managed and self-funded – releasing their second album Bats through their own label, Cub Sport Records.

Cub Sport are in the midst of a massive US/UK that will have them performing right through until mid-May.

The band will also be supporting Vance Joy on his September arena tour. Tickets are on sale now; for more information, head to theGuide.
