The 2015 Awgie nominations.
A number of high calibre Australian talent have received nominations in this year’s AWGIE Awards including actor and director Brendan Cowell and stand-up comic Josh Thomas.
While Cowell received the nod in the category of Feature Film - Adaption at the prestigious writing award ceremony for his efforts in his directorial debut film, Ruben Guthrie, Thomas was acknowledged for the second series of his ABC TV show, Please Like Me in the Comedy – Situation Or Narrative category.
The news comes just a day after the Queensland-born comedian announced the return date for the third season of his popular program.
Meanwhile, other Aussie personalties to receive AWGIE noms include Peter Helliar for his ensemble comedy series, It’s A Date and Lawrence Leung for Maximum Choppage: A Fistful Of Pastels.

Aussie actor Russell Crowe’s directorial debut The Water Diviner was nominated in the Feature Film – Original category, while the recently released Paper Towns was also selected.
