Melburnian musician Fergus Miller, the mastermind behind the Bored Nothing moniker, has announced that he will be hanging up the project at the end of the year, saying farewell with a pair of special shows in January.
It's only been a few months since Miller released his rapturously received second full-length, Some Songs — the follow-up to 2012's breakthrough self-titled debut — but the talented singer-songwriter nonetheless feels that the project has "run its course". The final two Bored Nothing shows will take place in Sydney, on 9 January at the Lansdowne Hotel (solo), and Melbourne, on 10 January at the Northcote Social Club (full band).
"This is the end of Bored Nothing. It's been fun. We've drank a lot of beer, been banned from a prominent Melbourne venue, and had shows where even some of the band members didn't show up," Miller wrote of the project's conclusion in a statement.
"To celebrate the final shows, we will be joined by some of our favourite bands, and some extra band members even," he continued. "There will definitely be singsongs.
"I'll never stop making music, or sharing it in one way or another, but Bored Nothing feels like it's run its course right now.
"Thanks to eveyone who's come to shows, bought me beers and supported our record label by buying vinyl and that. Cheers up."
