Gold Coast reggae-ish outfit Bootleg Rascal have today (November 28) announced that they’re heading on tour - but are intentionally skipping Sydney, due to the cost of living crisis.
The genre-bending band are set to hit major cities in all the other states across Australia in March 2025, with their mini-festival, Booty Block Party.
“We thought we'd go all out and do every capital city but Sydney. We've been out priced of the accommodation for hotels there, so unless someone has a tent we can pitch in their backyard, then it's no Sydney for now,” guitarist Jimmy Young said.
“If anyone is keen to hook us up though, please shout out; Carlos said he has a lot of experience pitching a tent, so we'll be pretty self-sustainable.”
The band is set to be supported by the likes of Danté Knows, Dear Sunday, Dizzy Days, and Tasman Keith across the national tour. You can find tickets and more information here.
On top of the tour announcement, Bootleg Rascal have also dropped a new single today - Drip Your Love. The track, which features South Summit's Zaya, is the epitome of an Australian heatwave bop.

“It's long, hot summer days spent by the pool sipping ice cold, extra strong, homemade margies. It's steamy nights spent with your new flame, picture the love scene from the OG Top Gun movie, Take My Breath Away playing on cassette tape. It's traffic jams spent sweating it out in your 1986 Toyota Corolla with busted A/C,” Young said.
He continued: “It's pretending to drown at the community pool just so you can get resuscitated by the hot life guard on duty, see Squints Palledorous in the Sandlot Kids. It's trying to finish your Frosty Fruit before it melts in the blazing hot sun (aka impossible). It's necking your first cold beer of the day so fast it feels like the liquid just evaporates before it even touches your lips. It's slamming chip sambos at the beach, white bread/chicken salt/extra sauce. It's hanging for summer to come around just to complain every day about how hot it is, then lament it when it's all over for another year. It's summer lovin' just the way Olivia and John boy would want it.”
