Melbourne punk rockers Bodyjar have returned with a surprise new single, Sound of the Stereo, as they gear up for their How It Still Works 25th anniversary tour.

The new track is punchy and anthemic – classic Bodyjar fare – from one of the best to ever do it. There are hints of nostalgia as the band continues to sound relevant and exciting.

Guitarist Tom Read said of the new single, “Being in my late 40s and having 3 boys, 2 of them teenagers, watching them growing up has brought up a lot of memories from our young days. The shit we used to do. How absolutely glued to the stereo I was. Making compilation tapes. Riding around with mates on our BMX's and just goofing off.

“Now, the kids make playlists on their Spotify accounts that I pay for instead of recording the songs illegally off the radio, they don’t even have to pedal their bikes like we used to….!!!”

You can check out Sound of the Stereo below.

This July and August, Bodyjar will commemorate the 25th anniversary of their record, How It Works. Tickets are selling like hot cakes, with shows sold out in Belgrave and Melbourne, last tickets in Sydney and Adelaide, selling fast in Brisbane and Perth, and new shows in Devonport and Hobart.

You can find tickets to the tour here.

Released in August 2000, How It Works debuted at #19 on the ARIA Charts. However, the band found international fame when the single, Not the Same, featured in the 2001 video game, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3, as well as the 2002 motocross video game, MX Superfly. Also in 2001, Bodyjar performed at Warped Tour in the US.
