More Dan Sultan More Dan Sultan

For its third consecutive year in a row, Blak Powerhouse returns in full force on January 26, taking over the brand new location of Manning House with a celebration of First Nations arts, music and culture.

Brought together by Powerhouse and Indigenous social enterprise We Are Warriors, the event will be all-ages and free of charge, making for an event with no restrictions and no one rejected at the door. This year’s program will explore the music, dance and art of one of the oldest living cultures in the world, centered within performance spaces, workshops, markets, food stalls and much more.

Blak Powerhouse is an integral opportunity to transform a day often associated with loss and sorrow into one of power and positivity, and by doing so, hosting an array of performances by talented First Nations artists who amplify their experiences through music.

As it has been previously announced, ARIA award-winning singer-songwriters Arrernte/Gurindji man Dan Sultan and Coodjinburra man Budjerah will be headlining Blak Powerhouse 2025. Joining them are rappers Kobie Dee and Yung Brother, and artists RIAH, Minty and Zipporah, with more special guests to be announced soon.

An Acknowledgement of Country will kick off the event from 5PM, followed by a traditional dance performance. Elsewhere at the event space, you can sit in on a panel discussion titled Take The Crown or a film screening of We Are Warriors’ latest documentary.

Speaking on the impact of Blak Powerhouse over the three years it has been running, Powerhouse Chief Executive Lisa Havilah said: "Over the past three years, Blak Powerhouse has grown to become a monumental event on Sydney’s cultural calendar. Powerhouse is so proud to deliver this event in partnership with We Are Warriors and continuing our commitment to honouring our First Nations cultures and connection to Country."
