A film documenting Black Sabbath’s final show, the star-studded Back To The Beginning concert, is heading to cinemas in 2026.
According to a statement posted by the band and frontman Ozzy Osbourne on social media, the forthcoming film will act as a “love letter” to Black Sabbath and Ozzy.
The original event, which took place Villa Park, Birmingham on Saturday, 5 July, was a jam-packed nine-hour event, featuring performances from Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, Lamb of God, Alice In Chains, Halestorm, Mastodon, Gojira, Guns N’ Roses, Tool, and others, plus supergroup performances starring Yungblud, Steven Tyler, and more, all of whom paid tribute to Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath. The iconic frontman and the band performed hit-filled sets at the end of the day.
Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello was the event’s musical director, while Aquaman actor Jason Momoa was the host.
Back To The Beginning was attended by 42,000 people at Villa Park, while an additional three million people across the globe tuned in for the pay-for-view global livestream. A charity event, proceeds from the concert totalled £140 million, and will be donated to Acorns Children’s Hospice, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Cure Parkinson’s.

The film release will offer a “distilled” version of the day that celebrates Ozzy Osbourne and the legacy of Black Sabbath. Variety reports that the film will be a 100-minute release and is currently in production by Mercury Studios.
Following the cinema release of Back To The Beginning, which is tentatively scheduled for early 2026, a physical release will be rolled out later in the year. More details about the film’s rollout will be revealed soon.

Featuring thunderous performances of War Pigs, Iron Man, N.I.B., and a show-stopping Paranoid, the film promises a deeply personal and electrifying farewell from the godfather of heavy metal with exclusive behind-the-scenes access and interviews from this iconic live performance.
