The festival brings Sydney restaurants Porteno and Bodega to the punters
As Australia's most recognisable touring festivals aims to reinvent itself with new part-owners C3, today Big Day Out's organisers have announced Chow Town – a section of the festival that will host pop-up restaurants providing more that usual festival food fare.
Ambassadors for Chow Town are Ben Milgate and Elvis Abrahanowicz from Porteno/Bodega and today's announcement that dishes “under consideration” included, American barbeque style brisket and pulled pork, lobster corn dogs, hand held tostadas de atun fresco and Chinese duck.
Menus will be tailored to each city for the festival, which will be headlined by Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Killers and Milgate said, “As live music fans, the opportunity to revolutionise the way our other passion, food is experienced within the walls of the festival world is the ultimate recipe for our idea of a Big Day Out.”
The festival's director Ken West added, “Musicians are often passionate foodies, many chefs imbibe rock'n'roll and restaurateurs create playlists that are lovingly selected for their venues. The love of music and food is universal and we are bringing it to Big Day Out, it will be a win-win for everyone.”
