Bernard Fanning Questions Leaders In New Song About US And Aus Elections

"We the electorate have some very important choices to consider. Do our 'leaders' challenge rather than confirm our prejudices?"

As the US federal election nears alongside the announcement that Australia's double dissolution election will be held on July 2, folk rocker Bernard Fanning has dropped a poignant new single to urge his fans to vote and question whether "our 'leaders' challenge rather than confirm our prejudices?'.

Titled Belly Of The Beast, the song is not an official single from his upcoming album but released "due to the timely nature of the pending election". Accompanied by a black-and-white lyric video with historical images of inspirational world leaders, everyone from Mahatma Gandhi to Mother Teresa to Martin Luther King Jr, Fanning sings, "The saying goes, people get the leaders they deserve, here we are in the belly of the beast".

The single arrives with a free download link and the reminder to enrol for the upcoming federal election by 8pm, Monday, 23 May.
