Sell CDs and new and previously loved vinyl!
The established beachside music and coffee business, Just Funkin Music, is for sale, as the owners are retiring.
Just Funkin Music is located on Ballina's main shopping strip in New South Wales. The only listed skills are "love and knowledge of music", and with plenty of space for adding more products to complement the existing record store (including hi-fi and musical instruments), anyone can make it their own.
The store was founded 22 years ago by its present owners "with a goal to supply a complete range of many genres of music." Fifteen years ago, they added a coffee bar/takeaway service to accompany the array of books and music. Just Funkin Music has amassed a vast loyal following of local and interstate customers over the years.
Just Funkin Music receives positive reviews from customers on TripAdvisor who weren't expecting what they walked into. Brian from the Sunshine Coast wrote, "The coffee was good, the owners very hospitable, but sitting on a faded leather couch looking at the old rock posters, pre-loved vinyl, and listening to great blues was a memorable experience. I couldn't leave without a music chat and buying a CD!"
Erica from Byron Bay also loved it, writing, "This is a music store with the convenience of a decent cup of coffee and somewhere pleasant to sit for ten minutes and drink it and watch people go by. It's simple, unpretentious and practical."
Cole, a local, called the store "as eclectic as they come;" continuing, "Being a local, I often wander past on the way to or from the bank, or just going somewhere else along River Street, the main drag of Ballina, just a block away from the Richmond River. More than once I have stopped in my tracks due to the music that was playing in the background. Have you ever had that compulsion to acquire a CD of whatever was playing just then? I've succumbed a few times. No regrets.
In this digital music age record stores, like bookshops, are becoming a relic from a bygone era. I'm pleased that this store has stayed open and reinvented itself along the way. In a regional town, like Ballina, that is quite an achievement."
