Entering its third year, the Corner Award shines a spotlight on promising local talent, with this year’s judges narrowing down a talent-packed longlist to a diverse shortlist.
Up for the Corner Hotel award in 2018 is Amyl & The Sniffers, Baker Boy, G Flip, Haiku Hands, Kardajala Kirridarra, Mildlife and Willaris K.
The winner will receive a headline gig at the Corner Hotel, vinyl pressing, $2000, pre-production at Bakehouse Studios, merch and more.
Last year’s prize went to Cable Ties, while Sampa The Great took out the inaugural award.
“For me, the Corner Award added more to my repertoire because it’s a prestigious new award. It moved me away from the realm of just an underground artist putting me into the realm of a more professional artist,” Sampa The Great said.
