Bad//Dreems is well known to be the consummate live band. All who have witnessed them onstage can agree - and now even those who have never attended a Bad//Dreems gig in person can agree too.
The ARIA-charting rock band - consisting of Alex Cameron, Miles Wilson, Deon Slaverio, and Ali Wells - have announced the imminent release of their first live album, Quality Meats. Taken from their 2023 headline shows at the iconic Victorian music venue The Corner and Nice to Day to go to The Club Festival, Quality Meats will be the first release on Bad//Dreems’s newly established label Gutto Records. The album is limited to a vinyl pressing of merely 300 LPs - which are selling at a sickening rate - but Quality Meats will be available on all streaming platforms on December 13th.
Bad//Dreems are just coming off the success of their fourth album Hoo Ha!, which saw an ARIA nomination for Best Rock Album, a Top 10 debut, and a spot at #2 on Double J’s album of the year. A far leap from their humble beginnings in an Adelaide white goods’ warehouse in the shadow of the West End Brewery. What better way to follow up an astronomic 2023 than to capture and distill the sound and energy that has made them so beloved.
In a statement posted to the band’s official Instagram account, Bad//Dreems declares, “We’ve always been a ‘live’ band, if you will. A band that hopefully proffers energy in menacing bursts, olive-branching some sort of release for our live audiences, perhaps. We’ve often struggled to capture that lightning-in-a-bottle-energy on record and up until now, we’ve never released live recordings of our shows.”
It is true that they are revered for their onstage prowess. In the words of Tyler Jenke: “To witness Bad//Dreems live should be a rite of passage for any self-respecting fan of Australian music; you'll never view live music the same way again.”

A taste of the live album is already available to fans and the newly-initiated alike. Two tracks - Mansfield 6.0 and Cuffed & Collared, both recorded live at The Corner Hotel - are now available to stream. Until December 13th rolls around, these two tracks give listeners a heady glimpse into the malevolence and the mirth of a Bad//Dreems live set.
