Australia's Eddie Perfect Scores Eight Tony Nominations With 'Beetlejuice' Musical

It only premiered this past weekend but Eddie Perfect's Beetlejuice Broadway musical has picked up eight Tony Award nominations today, including Best Musical. 

The Melbourne born musician and actor, who wrote the music and lyrics for the play, was also nominated for Best Original Score, while lead actor Alex Brightman was selected in the Best Performance By An Actor In A Leading Role In A Musical category. 

Beetlejuice was also nominated for Best Book Of A Musical, Best Scenic Design, Best Costume Design, Best Lighting Design and Best Sound Design.


Other big names nominated for a Tony this year include Brian Cranston (Best Performance By An Actor In A Leading Role In A Play for Network),  Jeff Daniels (Best Performance By An Actor In A Leading Role In A Play for To Kill A Mockingbird) and Laurie Metcalf (Best Performance By An Actress In A Leading Role In A Play for Hillary & Clinton) who is also gunning for her third-straight win of the award.
