Nicole Kidman and Judy Davis were our hopes
Australian actors Nicole Kidman and Judy Davis have missed out on accolades at the Emmy Awards today.
Kidman was nominated for Outstanding lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie for her role in Hemingway & Gellhorn, but lost out to Julianne Moore. Davis was nominated for her role in Page Eight in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie category, which went to Jessica Lange in American Horror Story.
The big winner was the comedy Modern Family, picking up the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series, while stars Eric Stonestreet and Julie Bowen received Outstanding Actor and Actress in Comedy.
Newcomer Homeland took out the Outstanding Drama Series, while its stars Damien Lewis and Clare Danes were awarded Outstanding Actor and Actress in Drama respectively.

Other winners were Louis CK for Writing In A Comedy Series with Louie, and Martin Scorsese for Directing For Nonfiction Programming in George Harrison: Living In The Material World. The documentary on the former Beatle also won Nonfiction Special.
