Aussie Music Makes Up 80% Of This Week's Triple J New Music Features

Plus Eliott, Ceres, Thandi Phoenix & Sigma and more...

More Dean Lewis Dean Lewis

It's going to be a huge week of Aussie music on triple j, with this week's Feature Album, seven adds and four spot features going to local acts.

Leading the charge is Dean Lewis, who has picked up the Feature Album with his debut LP, A Place We Knew.

"A Place We Knew, it tells a story in a single sentence," shared Lewis in a recent interview with The Music.

"To me, it [evokes] that I recorded these songs in all these different places around the world. And, secondly, it has this specific feeling to it. You know when you drive past an old house you used to live in with an ex-girlfriend, or whatever, and it’s two years later, and everyone’s moved on, but there’s all those feelings, and emotions, and memories of that place, and it’s quite a bittersweet feeling. A lot of the songs have that longing to it. That’s so powerful to me. It sums up everything."

Psychodrama by British rapper Dave has picked up the week's Album Packet.

Seven out of eight tracks that have been added to regular rotation come from local acts including Genesis Owusu, Eliott, Ceres, NYNE, Dulcie, Windwaker and Thandi Phoenix & Sigma. UK act Nilüfer Yanya represents the only international add spot for the week.

The Beautiful Monument (who today announced a headline tour), Austen, Triple One and RAT!hammock all scored spot plays for the week, as has London act AMA.
