A bunch of local artists have been named in the Spotify Emerge Program for Australia and New Zealand.

The program, which has only just been launched here in Oz, aims to bring more widespread attention to emerging stars in the music industry. Past winners of the comp internationally include current hip hop world-beaters Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and indie wunderkinds Alt-J.

The Aussies up for the prize this year are EDM duo The Aston Shuffle, Sydney rockers Gang Of Youths, the now London based MT, pop pairing Max & Bianca, rappers Chance Waters and Miracle, songstress Gossling and the Ry-X led The Acid. NZ's Tom Lark and Smashproof are the other artists in the running.

The artists were selected through through data produced through Spotify such as increases in streams and shares. Fans then determine the winner through listening, liking, sharing and voting from the shortlist - they can do so here.
