Asake, the Nigerian singer, rapper, and songwriter who was one of the headliners of this weekend’s Promiseland festival, has withdrawn from the event.

The unfortunate news was shared on the Promiseland social media channels. Asake shared a statement with the festival and his fans in Australia, writing:

Promiseland, I'm truly sorry I couldn't make it this year. I've been on an incredible non-stop tour, and now I need some time to rest and recharge. I look forward to seeing you all there next year!

Festival organisers added in a separate statement, “We tried everything possible to convince him and we tried to find multiple options to replace him unfortunately as it was so last minute no one was available. Updated set times coming.”

Promiseland begins this Friday (4 October) and runs until Sunday (6 October) at Doug Jennings Park on the Gold Coast.

In June, J Hus was added as a surprise headliner, joining the shiny 2024 line-up alongside the likes of Metro BoominJorja SmithMiguel, and Busta Rhymes

In a press statement, Promiseland co-director Emal Naim said of the upcoming festival:

“With this lineup, we firmly believe Promiseland cements itself as a festival staple in Australia, we’re proud of what we’ve done in [2022] and [2023], and can’t wait to deliver a global festival standard to Australian fans this October long weekend.”
