The veteran US rockers hit local shores on the heels of their latest studio album
Venerated Floridian rockers Alter Bridge will make their return to Australia next year following this month's release of their eagerly received fifth studio full-length, The Last Hero.
It'll be the first trip to the country for the seasoned outfit since their jaunt ashore in 2014 for that year's Soundwave festival; proving most economically minded, they'll also be stopping off in New Zealand while in the region, kicking off their tour in Auckland before heading Oz-ways to play shows in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle over the course of one furious and frenetic week. And, if previous visits are reliable indicators, the band's fans will be moving swiftly to get in line for the visit.
"Every time we tour, I'm reminded of how great it is to have this passionate and loyal audience," frontman Myles Kennedy said in a statement. "We don't take it lightly. We consider it an honour that people let us into their lives that way — and we can't wait to see our loyal fans Down Under in April."
Making its debut at #6 on the ARIA Albums chart — the band's highest local results to date — The Last Hero is Alter Bridge's first new studio album in three years (after 2013's Fortress) and so far yielding new singles Show Me A Leader and My Champion; the latter's lyric video has accrued more than 712,000 views in the month-and-a-half since it was posted on YouTube.

Part of the band's enduring appeal undoubtedly lies in the consistency of their roster. Along with vocalist/guitarist Kennedy, Alter Bridge has, since their genesis in 2004, comprised guitarist/vocalist Mark Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall and drummer/percussionist Scott Phillips, and — as thousands of fans around the globe will attest — it's been a winning formula since day one.
Tickets for Alter Bridge's 2017 tour of Australia hit pre-sale from 10am (AEDT) this Wednesday, 2 November, via tour promoters MJR Presents. General release will follow on Friday, 4 November.
