Australia’s very own rising pop princess is threatening us with a good time.

‘The Hit’ will be the first song to follow up her impossibly catchy ear-worm ‘clothes off’ - and luckily for her rabid fans, this track is promising to be equally unforgettable.

aleksiah has already teased the chorus on Instagram reels, which goes: “And the words are not enough / like I’m looking at a river and pretending it’s a flood. / Oh it’s the hit that cuts me to the core / when the writing’s on the wall / maybe this will be my downfall.”

In the Instagram post announcing the single’s official release date, aleksiah explains, “i wrote it in a random hotel alone one night after a crying fit (classic).” The song is reportedly “about the anxiety of living up to expectations which is something i think we can all relate to.”

In February, aleksiah talked to The Music about her penchant for writing “songs that secretly [have] quite depressing lyrics with a very fun, catchy beat…I can’t escape the genre. I am her, she is me.” It seems that ‘The Hit’ promises more of the same.

She is currently gallivanting around Europe, supporting queer pop-rock artist Beth McCarthy on their The Hot and Stupid Tour.

aleksiah will also be playing at the world-class Primavera Pro festival in Barcelona in June, and in London at Melodaze, a night club which is proud to showcase an “ever-changing, exciting line-up of up-and-coming talent.”

This pop princess is showing no signs of slowing down.

In her Instagram post promoting ‘The Hit,’ aleksiah cheekily promises more to look forward to, writing, “might even drop a couple other things that day too who knows.”

The Hit will be out everywhere on May 22nd.
