ALBUM PREMIERE: Revive The Live Recording Experience With Spike Vincent's Debut LP

'The album is a crisp, refreshing escape that pulls the listener into that recording studio.'

Get ready to swoon for your Valentine’s Day with the deliciously low-fi self-titled debut album from Sydney-based singer-songwriter Spike Vincent, premiering today on theMusic.com.au.

Not only is the album a brilliant example of Vincent’s talent for emotive, stripped back theatrical alt-rock but it has the added intrigue of being recorded live in front of a full audience.

The live album is an evasive beast but Vincent was excited to bring back the raw power of sound being taken in their freshest form.

“A lot of my favourite first albums had been recorded live, like Jane’s Addiction and MC5 [self-titled albums],” Vincent said.

Recorded in front of a small audience of friends at Damien Gerard Recording Studios in Balmain, the album is a crisp, refreshing escape that pulls the listener into that recording studio to hear the passion and emotion the Vincent so expertly expresses.

Vincent’s brooding, Australiana-tinged vocals cut through the infectious melodies and nostalgic instrumentation. Consumed in one sitting the LP weaves a tale of love, loss, elation and disappointment, all heightened with the soft sounds of the live audience at the end of every track.
