ALBUM PREMIERE: Matt Joe Gow - 'Break, Rattle And Roll'

“I wanted to throw everything I could at this record.”

Alternative-Americana act Matt Joe Gow's new album Break, Rattle And Roll is out this Friday and to celebrate we have the album premiere today exclusively on theMusic.com.au.

Speaking about the LP, Gow says he "wanted to throw everything [he] could at this record to do these songs justice and make the best record [he] could".

"I feel like I achieved that," he said.

Gow and long-time bandmate Andrew Pollock produced the album themselves focusing on capturing the performance of a band playing in a room as naturally and organically as possible.

“We’ve been building our own studio, so we knew this record would be the last for some time recorded in a large pro studio and we wanted to make the most of the space and the ability to track everyone at once," Gow said.

"We chose The Aviary in Melbourne, which is a great space, has a vintage atmosphere, and we went for a raw ‘straight off the floor’ feel. There’s no studio trickery, it’s the sound of a band playing in a room. Produced by myself and Andrew Pollock overall it’s upbeat and full of energy with a few more gentle breathers in there which perhaps hark back to my previous albums.”
