Hoooooly shit, this is gonna be good
We at The Music are staunch supporters of all things independent, and that includes fellow plucky websites such as the esteemed Grain, a Brissy-based music and arts outlet of the highest integrity and quality (and all-round good people).
It's not just their website that brings the goods, however; last year's inaugural Against The Grain festival showed they know how to book a heck of a party, a talent they've put to good use once again for this year's second annual event, this year proudly presented by The Music.
And, heck, have Grain pulled together an awesome line-up for round two, from well-established countercultural faves like Gold Class, The Courtneys, MOSSY, Twin Haus, The Ocean Party, Thigh Master and Horror My Friend (to name but a few) to emergent and ascendant awesomeness such as Sweater Curse, Chakra Efendi, Stella Donnelly, Sleep Club, In Real Life, Sunscreen, Make More and stacks of others.
Against The Grain will be held from Friday 25 August to Sunday 27 August across multiple venues, broken up thus: night one (Friday) will feature free-entry outings boasting art exhibitions and four bands playing between Barbara and Reverends; nights two and three (Saturday and Sunday) will move the shindig to outdoor stages in Bakery Lane and The Brightside's car park, where the primary chunk of the festival will take place.
