Adrianne Lenker, the vocalist, guitarist, and chief songwriter of US trio Big Thief, has announced a solo record, with the lofty Live At Revolution Hall set to arrive just next week.

Described as “a collection of performances and moments captured from Lenker’s 2024 headline tour,” the 43-track album comprises live cuts recorded during Lenker’s performances at the titular Revolution Hall in June 2024.

Backed by pianist Nick Hakim and violinist Josefin Runsteen, and recorded by engineer Andrew Sarlo, the recordings capture the quiet majesty of Lenker and her immersive back catalogue.

“It was impossible to do this album without the immense love and respect I have for my friend,” Sarlo said in a statement. “Watching the power of the music disarm and permeate feels a bit like an ‘I told ya so’ but I am still amazed every time. From the sidelines I cheer.

“This live album is another generous offering from Adrianne. Performing a myriad of songs; some new, some rare, some favorites, and beyond in front of an audience and behind the scenes.

“Clocking in around 120 minutes featuring songs & vignettes recorded exclusively on reel to reel and cassette tape, there was an attempt to create a different spin on what a live album could be,” Sarlo added. “Recorded over the span of 3-days while on the “Bright Future” tour, we put friendship at the focal point making this a loving memento from one friend to another.”

Though predominantly known for her work with Big Thief, Lenker has been writing and recording solo music for almost 20 years now. In March 2024, she issued Bright Future, which became her first to chart in Australia, at #53.

Big Thief, meanwhile, have not released a new record since 2022’s Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You, which was followed by the departure of founding bassist Max Oleartchik in 2024.

While Lenker hasn’t played solo in Australia since 2019, Big Thief have yet to announce their return since 2022.

Adrianne Lenker’s Live At Revolution Hall arrives on April 24th, with pre-orders available now.
