“Still pinching ourselves that we get to play ahead of so many of our music icons," Germein wrote on social media this weekend.
Adelaide trio Germein – sisters Georgia (guitar, keys), Ella (bass, electric cello), and Clara Germein (drums) are in the middle of an impressive overseas run.
Last year, they opened for Tom Jones during a stint in the UK, landed a slot on this year’s Lytham Festival, and now, they’ve been added to the Main Stage at the iconic Isle Of Wight festival in June. Not bad for a blossoming Australian outfit.
“We couldn’t be more excited to announce we’ll be playing MAINSTAGE at Isle of Wight Festival on Saturday + BIG TOP on Friday,” Germein wrote on social media over the weekend (27 May).
“Honestly a dream come true for us,” they added, “Still pinching ourselves that we get to play ahead of so many of our music icons, we absolutely cannot wait to see you there”.
This year’s Isle Of Wight festival is headlined by the recently reformed Pulp, George Ezra, The Chemical Brothers, and Robbie Williams.
In November, Germein said they were “lost for words” to be added to the Lytham Festival in the UK, especially as they play on the same day as Sting, Blondie, and Kaiser Chiefs.

We caught Germein at BIGSOUND 2022. The collective rays of sunshine from the sisters kept us moving as showcase proceedings ended.
We wrote, "Guitarist Georgia impresses us with her jaw-dropping belts, bolstered by a bed of pitch-perfect harmonies from her sibling counterparts. Georgia even hops on the keys for a brief stint during their powerful new single Good For A Girl. The band really look like they're having a ball, and it's the perfect injection of pep and pizzazz that we need at this hour of the night."
Last year, Germein were nominated for three awards at the 2022 SAM Awards (South Australian Music Awards), including People's Choice - Pop - which they won in 2019; Best Regional Artist, and their mum Sue Germein was up for Best Manager. They ultimately didn’t win in any of the categories.
Last month, Germein released their latest single, Suitcase, an effortless fusion of indie meets country-pop. Check out the music video below.
