Nickelback ProfileCharles Brice, a presenter on ABC News Breakfast and a Wings for Life ambassador, is asking Nickelback to make good on a promise they made him a few years ago.
In case you missed it: in 2022, Brice was the star of a disability inclusion campaign for the Government of South Australia’s Department of Human Services created by the Adelaide advertising agency, Showpony.
The campaign video, starring Brice, shows him shifting nervously in his wheelchair as gloomy music plays behind him. Looking at the camera, he said, “I know how uncomfortable it can make some people feel – friends, family, colleagues. There’s a fair bit of time I’ve felt embarrassed and ashamed.”
He continued, “I’ve come to a point where I don’t care what anyone thinks.” As the music cut, Brice said, “I love Nickelback.”
After the video was published, the band themselves saw it and made Brice a promise. At the time, they wrote on social media, “Glad you’re not embarrassed anymore! Next time we’re down under we’ll make sure to get you to a show.”
Brice said after getting a response from Nickelback, “Having them reply is great for the reach of the campaign and just goes to show how strong the messaging is. Hopefully they do tour soon, so I can watch from backstage.”

Now, Nickelback are finally returning. Earlier this month, they announced they’d return to Australia for the first time since 2019 in October 2027. And Brice hasn’t forgotten their promise.
Taking to Instagram on Friday (16 October), Brice looked at the camera and said, “Nickelback promised to take me to one of their concerts, and now I’m here to cash in. But this is where I need your help.”
The video, captioned “Hey Nickelback, remember me?”, continues with Brice reminding viewers of the advertising campaign, which was quite successful and, as noted above, caught the band’s attention.
“Now, I stand by what I said,” he said. “Well, sit by what I said. I have no regrets; I’m not embarrassed that I publicly said that I love Nickelback. But this is where I need your help.”
Brice asked viewers to share his latest video, comment, and tag Nickelback, “so that we can make this happen.”
He concluded the video, “So, Chad, if you’re a man of your word, I’m keen if you are.”
Check out Brice’s latest video below, and if you have Instagram, go ahead and share it.
Nickelback are touring in support of their upcoming album, Everything Under the Sun, set for release on Friday, 30 October. Find out where they’re playing and ticketing information on The Music.
