Emma Donovan & The Putbacks Lead 2021 Music Victoria Awards Winners

Some of Australia’s best acts, albums and songs were celebrated tonight as part of the 17th annual Music Victoria Awards.

Held at Melbourne Recital Centre and hosted by Myf Warhurst, the 2021 event saw winners across 16 industry-voted categories and seven public-voted categories with Emma Donovan & The Putbacks claiming the most awards throughout the event.

Donovan and co picked up Best Soul, Funk, R&B Or Gospel Act, Best Group and Best Album following the release of their acclaimed Crossover album, making them the only act to win multiple awards.

They were also one of the ceremony’s live acts, taking to the stage alongside Maple Glider, who won Best Breakthrough Act, and Best Musician winner Mindy Meng Wang, among others. 

Other winners throughout the night included Alice Skye (Best Pop Act), Dr Colossus (Best Heavy Act), DRMNGNOW (Best Hip Hop Act), Baker Boy (Best Regional/Outer Suburban Act), Hiatus Kaiyote (Best Song - Red Room), Sampa The Great (Best Solo Artist), Amyl & The Sniffers (Best Live Act) and more, while Eliza Hull who took home the inaugural Arts Access Victoria Amplify Award (For Deaf & Disabled Acts).

The 2021 Hall Of Fame inductees included Kylie Minogue and the late Pierre Baroni.
