The Kid LAROI, Tash Sultana & More Among 2021 APRA Music Awards Nominees

Celebrating some of the country’s best songwriters, APRA Music Awards has unveiled this year’s talent-packed nominee list.

Vying for the coveted, peer-voted APRA Song of the Year is Midnight Oil for their first single in 17 years, Gadigal Land, Tim Minchin for Carry You (performed by Missy Higgins on Upright), Guy Sebastian for Standing With You, Kevin Parker for Tame Impala’s Lost In Yesterday, and Amy Shark for Everybody Rise.

Covering pop, rock, country, R&B, hip hop, rap, soul, blues & roots and dance, today’s announcement also features multiple nominations for Tones & I, The Rubens, Flume, Miiesha and more, while Lime Cordiale, The Kid LAROI, Tash Sultana and other local favourites make the list.

“Can’t believe we’re nominated for an APRA Award!” Lime Cordiale said, nominated for Most Performed Alternative Work with Robbery while the band’s Louis and Oli Leimbach are up for Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year.

“We really work hard as songwriters and it’s such an honour to be recognised in this way. We’ve always followed the APRA awards and it feels pretty surreal to be up there with all the great artists that’ve been nominated in the past.”

Grace Shaw, aka Mallrat, who is also nominated for Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year, added: "Thank you APRA for the nomination and your continued support and passion for Australian music. I love songwriting more than anything and it's very flattering to be nominated and recognised."

The 2021 APRA Music Awards will be presented at Sydney International Convention Centre Grand Ballroom on April 28.
