“The indie sector is full of great, inspiring talent!"
The 2020 AIR Awards took place in Adelaide last night, broadcast across Australia and beyond via YouTube in a hybrid-style format, with artists and industry folk chiming in from the across the country to complement the on-the-ground celebrations.
Part pre-recorded and part live, this year’s event featured a collaboration between MCs Dylan Lewis and Jessica Braithwaite, performances from award winner Stella Donnelly, The Teskey Brothers, Angie McMahon and The Soul Movers, and live pre-show entertainment for those at Adelaide’s Lion Arts Factory.
The broadcast also featured multiple costume changes from co-host Lewis (there was a clown outfit and a Superman suit) who started the event sans pants, plus there was a puppet show from Regurgitator. Acceptance speeches were beamed in from a variety of locations, including cars and beer gardens, throughout the very short running time.
“It turned out better than I could have imagined in my wildest dreams,” AIR CEO Maria Amato told The Music.
“Technology has advanced so much that we are now only limited by our imagination.
