The music of beloved veteran children's entertainers The Wiggles will have a new home going forward, with the group announcing their signing with Universal Music Group.

Since first forming and releasing their self-titled debut in 1991, The Wiggles have all the while maintained a fruitful relationship with ABC Music, releasing all of the 60+ albums in the storied discography on the label.

This 35-year partnership has resulted in 16 ARIA Awards, an induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame, myriad live performances both at home and abroad, and countless records, compilations, singles, audiobooks, videos, and merchandise in all forms released in relation to the group.

More recently, the group have been named Australia's #1 Local Artist on Spotify for the past three consecutive years, while their total album sales have exceeded more than 30 million, with their global music streams likewise exceeding a massive four billion.

Additionally, an appearance on triple j's long-standing Like A Version even saw the group top the 2021 edition of the Hottest 100 countdown with a cover of Tame Impala's Elephant.

Now, The Wiggles have announced that they have officially parted ways with ABC Music, instead collaborating with Universal Music Australia who will utilise their global network of labels and divisions to provide their expertise across streaming, digital and physical distribution, and promotion and marketing to amplify the group's music on a global scale.

In celebration of the new partnership, UMANZ President and CEO, Sean Warner joined the group in a special BridgeClimb atop the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge.

"Partnering with Universal Music Australia means that more families than ever before can enjoy The Wiggles’ music around the globe," Purple Wiggle Lachlan Gillespie exclusively tells The Music

"Honestly, standing on top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, taking in those incredible views of the Opera House alongside Sean Warner, Universal Music Australia’s President, was an unforgettable moment.

"We’re so happy to be joining forces with the world’s biggest record label and celebrating it at Australia’s most globally iconic landmark made it even more special," he adds.

"The Wiggles are a true cultural phenomenon and one of Australia’s most iconic and enduring success stories," Warner said in his own statement. "Their music has soundtracked childhoods for generations and continues to resonate across audiences worldwide.

"We’re proud to be shaping the next chapter of their international journey as a trusted and much-loved Australian group – there aren’t many people I’d climb the Harbour Bridge for, but The Wiggles are an exception!"

"What a hugely exciting day! For 35 years, The Wiggles’ mission has been about creating fun, educational and enriching music for children and families," says founding Blue Wiggle Anthony Field

"What makes this new partnership so special is the opportunity to take everything we do - music, storytelling, live performance – and amplify it on a truly global scale. Universal Music understands both the legacy and the future of The Wiggles, and together we’re looking forward to reaching families everywhere in new and meaningful ways."

"The Wiggles business has enjoyed tremendous growth over the past few years, and we are looking forward to continuing this trajectory and scaling our activity internationally with our friends at Universal Music," added Kate Chiodo, The Wiggles' CEO.

First forming in 1991, the initial line-up of The Wiggles comprised Field, along with Murray Cook, Jeff Fat, Greg Page, and Phillip Wilcher, who departed the following year. Since then, the group's membership has shifted, ultimately doubling to a total of eight, with only Field remaining from the band's foundation.

Alongside Gillespie, Simon Pryce, Tsehay Hawkins, Evie Ferris, John Pearce, Caterina Mete, and Lucia Field, The Wiggles' line-up is rounded out with a wider cast of friends, comprising Dorothy The Dinosaur, Wags The Dog, Henry The Octopus, Captain Feathersword, and viral internet  sensation, The Tree Of Wisdom.

The Wiggles' most recent major release, Wiggle Up, Giddy Up!, arrived in March 2025, and featured collaborations with Dolly Parton, Orville Peck, Morgan Evans, and even the late Slim Dusty.
