Sweat It Out and Kobalt have teamed up for a 2023 Writer’s Camp starring some up-and-coming names in Australian dance, R&B, alternative and music.
For the 2023 edition of the Writer’s Camp, 24 Australian songwriters will head to eight recording studios in Sydney for a massive three days from 29 until 31 August. Adding to the exciting announcement, Sweat It Out and Kobalt will host a free Writer’s Camp Afterparty from 8 pm until late at the Hotel Harry in Surry Hills.
Why exactly is this Writer’s Camp essential? Well, the 2021 event led to ten songs being released after being written at the camp, accumulating over 20 million streams globally. Some of the artists who benefitted from the 2021 Writer’s Camp include Dom Dolla, Thandi Phoenix, Set Mo, Mansionair and more.
This year, 24 songwriters from the Sweat It Out and Kobalt rosters will benefit from the Writer’s Camp, including Sam Littlemore (Pnau), Torren Foot, Peach PRC, Big Wett, and many more. You can find the complete list of names participating in the 2023 Writer’s Camp below.
Kobalt Music Group launched Kobalt Label Services [KLS] in Australia and New Zealand in November 2012, marking another introduction of an “alternative” to the traditional label deal.
Paul Hitchman, Managing Director of KLS, said that Australia and New Zealand are “important markets for Kobalt Label Services releases, and we are therefore thrilled to be able to offer our clients the best possible retail sales representation in the territory via our partnership with Inertia.

“We aim to offer the best of both worlds – expert local representation for physical sales in all of the key markets worldwide combined with global digital distribution via our own AWAL platform.”
Earlier this year, London Topaz signed to Sweat It Out and released the single All I Need.
Ajax founded the label in 2008 and has provided a space for a roster that includes Dillon Francis, A-Trak, Dom Dolla, RÜFÜS DU SOL, Slumberjack and What So Not. “It feels surreal to be signing with a label that is so well respected,” Topaz said of his signing in a press statement.
“Sweat has been pivotal in the success of artists that I’ve idolised and has put Australia on the electronic music world map. I’m excited for this next chapter and can’t wait to release more music.”
