London Topaz (aka Nick Melitsis) has spent nearly a decade making waves with his melancholic and melodically charged house music – and today he makes a giant leap forward in his career, signing to the acclaimed EDM label Sweat It Out.

The Melbourne (Naarm) up-and-comer joins a roster of international icons like Ajax (who founded the label in 2008), Dillon Francis, A-Trak, Dom Dolla, RÜFÜS DU SOL, Slumberjack and What So Not, proving that he’s long had the potential to not just crack the mainstream, but fully take over it. “It feels surreal to be signing with a label that is so well respected,” Melitsis said of his signing in a press statement. “Sweat has been pivotal in the success of artists that I’ve idolised and has put Australia on the electronic music world map. I’m excited for this next chapter and can’t wait to release more music.”

The excitement was shared by Matt Handley, A&R director at Sweat It Out, who added in his own statement: “We’re always on the lookout for music made in Australia by producers looking to take it to the world stage and when we came across this batch of demos by London Topaz, we instinctively knew that he was ready. With lead single All I Need having that ‘game changer’ feel about it, we’re super excited to begin the journey with this Melbourne based artist where the sky really feels like the limit.”

All I Need also arrives today (July 7), marking his third new tune for the year – the Blush’ko-assisted single Drifting was released independently back in February, followed by Promises (featuring Zoe A’dore) in March.

According to Melitsis, the cruisy new song is about “the reflections of love, dealing with heartache and feeling that your only way through is by being back with that person”. Its lowkey, soulful energy was a product of circumstance, he continued, calling it “one of those simple songs” and further explaining: “I think I had it finished within a week, it felt like a very pure and effortless process. I remember starting with some basic chords over the vocal and knowing that I wanted a sense of euphoria in the verses then for it to suck back into a really cool bass hook, it was really important that I nailed those main elements.”
